As anticipated in Your Lordship's
Despatch No. 143 of the 27th. of last May it has not been
possible to obtain a suitable condidate from the Indian
Service for the vacant post of Assistant Superintendent,
Botanical and Forestry Department: and, application for an
Officer from the Forest Service of the Federated Malay
States having also failed, I have the honour to forward
the enclosed copy of a minute by Mr. W. J. Tutcher, dated
the 29th. of last June and to recommend that in the first
instance the post should be offered to Mr. E. H. Wilson,
and that, if he declines the offer, the Director of the
Royal Gardens at Kew should be requested to select a suit-
-able Officer.
